RANGIORA.

The Rangiora County Council mot yesterday. Present—Messrs F. Horre]l, A. Mt-Intosh, W. Stalker, L. TV. Campion, H. Tallott, M. H. Stokes, and H. Garrett.

Mr l'\ Horrell was re-elected chairman for the ensuing > ? ear. The resolution making a by-law entitled "The Rangiora County Grass Seed By-law," was confirmed. The bylaw prohibits the cutting oi' grass lor fieetl on all roads within the countv without the authority of the Council.

The clerk reported that Mr C. Nankerville had prohiised to cut aud burn the gorso on Reserve (32£) as soon as possible. The Commissioner of Crown Lands wrote that the question of disposing of Reserves 1886, G29, 1240, and 1078 in the Cust riding, would- be considered at the next meeting of the Lund Board. It was resolvod that the clerk interview the Commission in reference to the sale.

Permission was granted Messrs Dalzlei and Purvis to store coal on the Council's section at Springbank. Mi* AV. H. Judson wrote, asking the Council to lower the pipes on the Beach road. The clerk was instructed to inspect and .report.

The chairman was appointed to represent the Council at the conference regarding the Poo,- of Great Britain, Ireland, and Belgium Relief Fund, convened by the Minister of Internal Affairs.

It was resolved to sujjoort the Wliangarei County Council in tlieir objections to the Government's proposal regarding grants for construction of roads and bridges, and also the Petouo Borough Council in the action the.v had taken in regard to pensions oayabl© to tho dependents of dead soldiers.

In reference to an application from Mr J. "Walker for the Council's approval of a subdivision of his property, it was resolved that his reouesfc could not bo granted until a road, to be dedicated, was formed and metalled. It Was decided to invite tenders for cntting cocksfoot grass on the roads in tho county ; also to rut jjorse round the Cam river, and to annrovo of the letters R.C. being used on motors in place of R.G.A.C. now registered for the county. The receipts for the month were £106 7s Id, and the bank debit balance £1849 Is Bd.
