CENSORING FILMS.
« LEGISLATION PROMISED NEXT SESSION. (press association telegram.) V,'ELLINGTON, December 2. A deputation from a conferenco convened by the Catholic Federation, and representing five councils and other bodies, urging the censorship of cinema films, waited on the Hon. G. W. Russell, Minister of Internal Affairs, today. The Minister expressed himself in sincere agreement with the proposal, and congratulated the Federation on the steps it had taken. Ho said he was prepared to recommend his colleagues next session to bring down tin* nccessary legislation to provide for tho establishment of a Hoard of Censors, who would view every film a t Wellington, and making it a penal offenco exhibit any films that the censors had barred. The proposal that women should be represented on tho Board would receive careful consideration. He had no doubt from his knowledge of the views of the Government that the legislation would be introduced.
