TROUBLE ON THE MAORI.
9 YJ'jsSEL LATE IX LEAVING WELLINGTON. Word was received last night :it Lyttelton that trouble had boon experienced at Wellington in connexion with the firemen employed on the lorry steamer Maori, janl that in consequence it was unlikely that she would get away for the South. Enquiries made from the Union Company confirmed the report as to the shortage of firemen, but from the information at the company's disposal, it was assumed that the vessel would sail for Lyttelton some hours later than usual, Later in the evening a special message to "The Press" stated that the Maori sailed for Lyttelton at 9.25 p.m. The news of the latest hold-up by the firemen was not unexpected in Lyttelton, as rumours had boon prevalent in the port for several days that the men were contemplating some such action.
