LONDON, September -24. , Captain Wallingford, the champion rifle shot, is retiring from the New Zealand Forces, in which he has held command of a machine-gun fcction, owing to a strained heart Writing to his parents, he says:— "I have tried to stick it out, but for the fourteen days after we had beaten off the Turks I was crawling round my gun's with a stick. I got Home with the revolver, killing four—one at a foot distance, another at five feet, a third at ten feet, and the last at twenty yards. . Poor devils —they were all youngsters.
