HINTS TO DISTRICT COMMITTEES. A circular which has been issued by tho St. Albans Red Cross Fund Committoo contains some hints as to tho method to be adopted in appealing for public support that may serve as a guide tn similar committees in other districts. The officers of tho Ladies' Section and of the Men's Committee aro set out, and also the objects of the Fund—(a) to provido comforts and necesearies for wounded New Zealandevs; and (b) to assist Red Cross work ■generally. Tho body of the circular follows: — "Over twenty thousand men. the vory flower of our manhood, in rcemjr.so to the Umpire's call, havo gone forth from the Dominion to uphold our national honour, prctect and preserve dur families and homes, our personal liberty and freedom. Of this number hundreds of officer* and men havo made the greatest sacrifice humanly possible by laying down their lives 011 tlio field of battle for us all, and thousands have br.en wounded or are missing. This terrible list is being Bddod to day by day. In order to alleviate tlio sufferings of the wounded and hasten their recovery, n Ladies' Committee, representing all parts of thodiatrict, has been' formed, which meets regularly and makes up materials into bandages, garments, and other ncccssaricfl for their benefit, which are forwarded to the hospitals where wounded New Zealanders are lying. **Thi3 vork must go on until the war to an end. To assist the ladies in their noble work a Men's Committee has been set up to canvas* for regular weekly, monthly, or other cubscriptione. Tho funds so raised w iil be applied in the purchace of materials to enable the ladies to cany on their work for our wounded eoldiere. Any surplus will be used for Red Cross work generally. Each collector should be supplied with an account book showing amounts collected, and authority to collect. When paying amounts to th« treasurer, the treasurer should sign, or initial, th? collector's book, and the colloetor should sign the treasurer's book for the same amount. The collector-should sign the secretary's bock for stamps taken. It is suggested thut it, would probably prove an incentive to collectors <0 publish a monthly record of one's efforts.
