ROLL OF HONOUR UNVEILED. The unveiling of tho.Roll of Honour of past pupils of tlio Borough School, who hare gone on active service, took placo at Sumner on Saturday afternoon, in tho presence of a largo gathering of school children, residents and friends of tho boys. . . - Tho board containing tho Koll # or Honour is of handsome rtructuro, botng over six feet in height and three loet across, and is headed with th© echoo motto "Per arduo ad alta." lie board is of kauri, with a rosewood -polish, and all the names are lettered m gold. Mrs Isaacs Wilson presented the board to tho echool. * ■ . jl , f . The Roll of Honour contains tho following names.:—F. Buttle, H. >\. Blazey F. Lawson, C. Boulton, Wood, H. ilaffey, A. Hines, A. M. Hill, P. Boulton, M. Beaven, J. MDeacon (died of wounds), H. Barr, L. A. Wrcnn, E.R.A., C. C. Massey, i«. Svmo (died of wounds). J. Barr, K. O. Jlaßsey, J. Tipping. W. Tipping, C. Cosset, E. Senior, L. F. Kegnault A. J. T. WhiMicrs, E. Moslev. A. Hanmcr (killed in action), J. Hanmer, h. C Wood, and A. Wood. Tho names are placed in order of the length of time tho pupils were at tho School. Mr C. H. Opie, representing the ! Education Board* said that ho and all. present had met that Afternoon with a desire to do honour to the brave boys whoso names were on tho board before j them. He saw before him men who had three and four sons at the front; they i nntl all the boys who had cono had , shown the greatest jvossible sacrifice that any man could ehow. j Mr Opie then unveiled the Roll of j Honour, and in doing so said that all j were proud of every boy whose name j was on the board. ~„„.,,. , . The headmaster (Mr G. F. Alien), m j addressing the gathering, referred to j ! the difficulty of getting the names for ; i the Honotirs Board, and said that if any ; I names were omitted, if they were hand- ■ jed to him they would be placed on j ! tho roll. He referred, to the school , motto at the top of the board, which \ being interpreted meant: "Througn 1 Difficulties to tho Heights." The roll i I contained the names of two past 1 teachers of the school. j Tho Rev. W. J. Williams, Messrs H. I Buttle, and H. J. Marriner also spoke. j The sinzir.g of the National Anthem f brought the gathering to a close.
