PAPARUA.

Mr James Leslie presided at the iast meeting of the Paparua County Council. Correspondence was received from Mr "VV. S. Short, allocating the cost of tho upkeen of roads through the park, the Council's share being 18 per cent, of the Middle Park road, and 7 per cent, of the North Park road. Members considered that the allocation was an unjust one, trrtffio on which the allocation was made was mostly composed of meat- waggons, which run wholly in the interests of the city, wliUs tho presence oi the abattoirs had a depressing effect on the district. It was decided to get a legal opinion as to the best means of dealing with the meat traffic, and, if necessary, make bv-laws bv which those carting meat would be'forced to pay towards the cost of the I'ark roads. Ihe clerk reported 011 the number of water-races which required bridging, and it was decided to erect bridges as opportunity offered. Mr "Watson. Mr Smith, and tlie clerk were appointed to inspect the bruise over the main race on the West Coast road. Tt was decided to agree to the change of roads and renecessitated by the election of the Panama Prison at Temnleton.
