A DISTRESSED FRENCH LADY. TO THE EDITOR OV "THE PBESS." Sir, —About four month* ago you wore good enotiph to publish an appeal 011 behalf of a Madame L., a French lady who had been ruined bv tho war. A« a result of that appeal t was able to cable £00 francs to her, and to send a .smaller amount by post a fortniglifc later, with an explanatory letter. I received a letter acknowledging tho cable some six weeks ago. Yesterday I received a letter, written by Madame L.. after receiving my letter containing the smaller amount, 'in which she expresses her most grateful thank* to the •'friends of France" who have helped her in her need. If any of those who subscribed to the fund car«' to see Madame L.'s letter, and will send a lire addressed to me at Canterbury Col. lege, I will gladly forward tho letter to them.—Yours, etc.. T. G.
