CASUALTIES.
An inquest was held yesterday on tho body of Mrs Mary Jane McGill, aged forty-four, who died as the result of a seizure about 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday at her homo in Htereford street, over "the Tourist office. Dr. Frederick John Borrio stated that shortly before 8 p.m. on Wednesday ho was summoned to deceased. On arrival he found that life, was extinct. A mortem examination revealed that tho heart was fatty and degenerated, there was evidence of rccent pleurisy on the left side, and there was also pneumonia on the left side of the lung. Cause of death was failure of the heart duo to strain of pneumonia. Tho Coroner (Mr T. A. B. Bailey) returned a verdict tlint death was due to heart failure. W. H. Hewitt, an employee at the Addington Paint Shop, had the misfortune to be Btruck on the head by a falling oil-drum yesterday afternoon whilst stooping to pick un a lever. He was removed to the hospital, having sustained scalp injuries. Henry Jordan, of Waikari, while cycling along the Riccarton road yesterday afternoon, fell heavily from his machine to the road. He was treated at the hospital, having sustained injuries to his head and one of bus eyes.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.} DUNEDIN*. August 12. Thomas Jamieson, aged twenty-eight, who was employed by the Harbour Board, was severely crushed between the dredge and a pile at seven o'clock last night, receiving injuries which terminated fatally at the hospital this morning. A ma*' named Denis Coakley fell down a flight of stairs in a boardinghouse in Cumberland street about C p.m. on Tuesday. He was rendered unconscious, and wa®> removed to the hospital, where he died without regaining consciousness.
