The annual Paparua County ploughing Hutch wns held yesterday in si paddock kindly ]ent bv Mr Geo. Bniley, at The weather was beautifully fine in tbe> forenoon but foggy and cold in the afternoon. Ther© was an excellent attendance. The ground wu too dry and friable for sliowy work to be done., but, notwithstanding this, the work on the who)© w;ks really excellent, and the judge* were well pleased with it. This was all the more commendable seeing that most of the competitor* were young, ard the* youths handled their ploughs and to*ma neil. Iho champion ploughman was Mr D. Henderson, of Halkett, winner of the district doubje-furrov claae, whose ajl round work was considered the l>est. Mr J. Calder, of Halkett, a well known competitor, and winner of tho open double-furrow class, carried off tho special prizes for feering, stroighteflt ploughing. and finish. Mr It. J. H. Johnston, winner of the maiden three-furrow class, also gained the special prizes l'or tho beet decorated team and best kept harness in every day utc. The moat sucocMful competitor from a dfctiinrc was Mr J. Brohan, of Studholms, v.-'io won the maiden doub!e-f*irrow class. Mr •!. lla:.na, Sefton, was winner of the open three-furrow class. Mr F. T. Carter of tho youths' dmible-fuvrow cla*s, and Mr I/. Wilkje was the only competitor in the class for those who had uot dor;e iinv ploughing.
