IMPORTED EGGS.
NECESSITY FOR BRANDING. (SPECIAL TO "THE PRESS.") WELLINGTON. July 28. Mr Harris asked the Minister of Agrifulture in tho House of Representatives to-day whether ho would «Co that in future all eg£ s imported into New Zealand from foreign countries wero branded as such. In a note t 0 the question Mr Harris said that very largo quantities of eggs wero being imported from America and other foreign countries, and iv many cases were being sold as guaranteed "'fresh," whereas quite aj number of these eggs were not in an eatable condition, and thus much damige was being dono to thc New Zealand poultry industry. Mr Massey said that the matter was being looked into. It would perhaps bo found practicable to take action under tho Sale of Food and Drugs Act to prevent imported eggs being sold without disclosing their origin. Invaluable to tho student of form.
