Mr Asquith, in tho House of Commons, stated that the British casualties wero as follows: — NAVAL. (To July 20th). Six hundred and fifteen officers, of whom 499 had been killed, and 8-191 men,, of whom 7430 had been killed. MILITARY. (To July 18th). Franco and Flanders —11,254 officers, of whom 3288 had been killed, and 255,619 mon. of whom 48,372 had been killed. Dardanelles (including tho Naval Division) —2144 officers, of whom 567 had been kilted, and 47,094 men, of whom 7567 had been killed. Other theatres (excluding Gorman South-West Africa)—lls officers, of whom 145 had been killed* and 5333 men, of whom 1445 had been killed. USE OF ARMOUR, ADVOCATED. NED KELLY CITED. LONDON, July 28. Sevoral nowspapers urge tbo use of bullet-proof breast-plates. Many tficn in the French army aro using such protectors. Sir A. Conan Doyle, in advocating artificial protection, says that when Ned Kelly walked unarmed before tho police rifles in his own hand-made armour, it was an object-lesson to the world. If an outlaw could do it, why not tho soldier? WRECKED SOLDIERS. GOOD TREATMENT PROVIDED. ("Tini«"' and "Sydney Sun" ScrvS««.l LONDON, July 27. In tbo Houso of Lord 6 Lord Newton, interrogated in regard to th© hospital treatment of nerve-shaken soldiers, who had been medically diagnosed as affected mentally, stated that the War Offico had no intention whatever of treating these unfortunate' as ordinary lunatics. Lord Knutsford said that the arrangements mado for these afflicted soldiers were particularly good.
