DUNEDIN, July 28. | The Primate this morning received the following telegram from tho Primo | Minister:—"l have been approached by i members of Parliament and other public men who take an interest in such matters, with the suggestion, following the example of what has been dono in Great Britain, that Sunday, August Bth next should be 6et apart by tho various religious denominations as a day of in- I tercession on account of the great European war and tho serious crisis through 1 which tho Empire is passing. I have therefore much pleasure in asking whether you can see your way to fall in : with tho idea and make tho neces- , sary arrangements for tho Church under your control to act in tho direction suggested." His Lordship at onco replied expressing his willingness to fall in.with the proposal contained in Mr Massey's telegram. (PBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAMS.) WELLINGTON, July 28. The president of the Methodist Conference (the Rev. J. Dawson) is requesting all-tho Methodist churches in the Dominion to make Sunday, August Bth, a day of intercession for national blessing and for victory and universal peace. DANNEVIRKE. July 28. Tho Rev. A. Grant, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church, in response to a request from the Prime Minister, directs that August Bth. as well as August 4th. shall be observed by the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand as a day* of intercession on account of tho war.
