INSURANCE AGAINST AIR RISKS.
CONFIDENCE OF THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT.. Information in regard to Air Risks Insurance in London which has been received in Christchurch by a company in a large way of business, and kindiy placed at our disposaLis of considerable interest. In October, 1914, that is, about two months after tho beginning of th© war, th© company in question was able to take out a policy in London against the risk from aircraft bombs at tho very moderate premium of five shillings per cent, per annum. About a month ago, when tho question arose of securing further cover, a cablegram was received to tho effect that the premium on a new policy in th© London area would be £1 per cent, per month, or. if for a year, about £5 per cent, per annum. Th© message added: — "Not" much prospect of premium reduction unless Government intervenes." Tho company considered, th© premium excessive, and did not take out th© policy. A few days ago a further cablegram was received, to tho effect that an insurance eoufd now bo effected with the Government at 7s 6"d per cent, per annum. This is highly interesting and satisfactory information, as evidence of th© confidence felt by the English Government in the 'provisions mad© against German aircraft invasion.
