(By Cable.—Presa Association.—Copyright.) j fX>NDON, July 21. } The Press Bureau states that after re- ! ceiving rumours of hostile tribesmen !><>- ing in tho vicinity of Bushiro, Major Oliphant and Captain Ranking, assist-ant-political officer, with a mixed patrol on the 12th inst., reconnoitred ami fell into an ambush. Tho enemy was well concealed. Both British ofliccrs were killed, and also a Sepoy, while two others were wounded. The tribesmen disappeared. Bushiro is a part of Persia in thc Persian Gulf. In tho last few years troops from India have been statior.cn at certain places in Southern Persia, to protect tho trade route* from the wild tribes, whom the Persian Government arc quite incapable of controlling. British officers engage! in this work have had _, very try-in-.' time as they have not had authority to adoot measures to keep the brigands in order. A correspondent of ''Tho # Times" mentioned in 1913 that there had been thirteen of attempted shooting of officers at c"hir__;, yet no . form of retaliation was permitted.
