NEWS OF THE MACHINE-GUN SECTION.
Writing from Gallipoli Peninsula on May 2(sth, Lieutenant Francis Davison, who is in charge of the machinejrun section, Canterbury Mounted Rifles, asked his wife to give publicity to the fact that "all our gun section men are fit aiid well to date of this letter, and showed great coolness in their first action." as he thought some of the parents and relations might be glad to know. _ '•We get splendid rations here, and plenty of thorn," adds Lieutenant Davison, "our only trouble being that we have to bo careful of tho water as tho supply is not good, and mostly comes oil the ships. Thin C s are veiy quiet hero to-day, and have been for the last few days, but all tho save we have to keep a very sharp look-out. We. are in a veiy good pluce here, as no c'aii bathe any time of the day in the sea- The weather has been just about perfect since we landed, with the exception of yesterday and night before last, which were wet —but not c<jid—and made the trenches very sloi'pv."
