COALITION PROPOSAL.
XO ANNOUNCEMENT YET. i ANOTHER CONFERENCE. | ' J (sr-KriAL to "the press-") ; WELLINGTON. July --- i Tlie negotiations between the Leaders j of the Government and the Opposition j Parties in th<> Honso concerning tho J proposai to form a National Cabinet are j still proceeding. li has been almost j authoritatively stated that the proposal is definitely off. but >o far as can now" j be learned, this statement is not justi- j fietl by facts; neither is there any, authority for savins that there is n probability of a National Cabinet being i formed. There is, however, still a pos- j sibility; whether that possibility i* , re-J moto or not neither of the two Leaders, j who alone know all the facts, will say. j The fact seems to be that t"' , ulti- j male result is "on tho knees of the \ pods." Perhaps the be- ) tweon the negotiators on behalf of the j parties relate to conditions rather than j to tho peueral idea. The Prime Minister and the Loader of the Opposition had a further conference to-day, but, there has been no announcement as to the result. Both aro very reticent, on tho subject.
