CASUALTIES.
WELL-KNOWN CLEHK OF WORKS KILLED. tPr.KSS ASSOCIATION TET.KGRAH.) WELLINGTON. .July 22. A fatal accident occurred this afternoon at the additions which are in course of erection to the offices of the "Dominion" newspaper,' off Boulcott street. Mr A. B. Anderson, clerk of works to Messrs Campbell and Burke, the contractors, was walking across the roof of the building when he fell between th*> joists and dashed to the ground, 40ft below. Death was instantaneous. Mr Anderson was a wellknown figure in the building world, and had acted as clerk of works on many of the biggest structures j n Wellington. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TEWECRAM*.) ROTOR UA. July 22. William Harrley, aged 40. employed by the Public Works Department in erecting a bridge at Okcre. was drowned to-day through the, collapse of a staging. He leaves a w 'fo and two children. His mate, named Pearson, was also precipitated into the water, but got aehore. The body has not been . recovered. AUCKLAND. July 22. ! A collision at tho King street level crossing between a train and trap yesterday terminated fatally this afternoon, when Mr Robert Barber, baker and confectioner, who was driving the trap, died from his injuries. A photographer named Robert Love was this morning found dead in his studio in Ponsonbv street, with a bullet wound in the head. One hand was clasping the muzzle of a pea-rifle. | John Turton. a young man employed by Mr N Campbell Happy Valley, was admitted to the Hospital last night, . having broken hts left leg below the knee, as the result of falling off a chaffcutter.
