A message from Cairo states that a European who left Constantinople on July 3rd reports that there are fifty thousand Turks wounded at Constantinople, besides those at Adrianople, Smyrna, tho Dardanelles, and the ports on the Sea of Marmora. The proportion of killed is high. Tlis heavy casualties aro tho only causo of anxiety which the leaders admit. Their optimism is otherwise undiminished, and until disaster overtakes them, tho position of the leaders seems secure, Food is fairly aJ>un,dant, with the exception of rico. Shopkeepers hare baen ordered to surrender silk stockings, laces, feminine underclothing-, and false hair—presumably for the benefit of tho female friends of' German-officers. Much newly-coined gold lias arrived at ConGtantinople. Tho chief officials, it is believed, havo been paid up till the middle of Juno.
