LAND FOR SOLDIERS.
WHAT THE GOVERNMENT IS DOING. (SPECIAL TO "THE P8E38.") WELLINGTON, July 21 . The provision of land for returned soldiers was dealt with in a reply made by the Prime Minister to a question asked in the House to-day by Mr E. Newman. Air Massey states that the matter ha? already received the consideration of the Government, which intends to set aside blocks for selection by returned .soldiers, and Commissioners of ' Crown Lands have been asked to re-. port what lands in their district are I suitable for the purpose. It hae been j suggested that a certain area of tends : suitable for fruit-growing should be ■ set apart, as the fruit industry might be particularly suitable to returned soldiers, and the Commissioners are requested to pay special attention to any lands in their district suitable for; fruit-growing, and send a separate re- j port thereon.
