SOLDIERS' WIVES.
THE SEPARATION ALLOWANCE. (SPECIAL TO "the I*KESS.") "WELLINGTON, July 19. The Government has recently granted a separation allowance of ls per day to tho wives of members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. This allowance is payable from June Ist to the wives of men who were accepted prior to that date, and from the date of enlistment in all other cases. Before this allowance can be paid a written application, accompanied by her marriage certificate, must be made by the wife claiming it, such application to bo addressed either to Headquarters Defence Department, at Auckland, Palmerston North. Christchurch. or Dunedin, or to the Quartermaster-General, Defence Department. Brandon street, Wellington. After being noted, the marriage certificate will be returned. If the marriage certificate is not readily obtainable, a declaration before a Justice of the Peace will be accepted. Tho allowance will be added to the payments made under allotment orders at the end of each month.
