SERGEANT P. K. IRVINE.

Tlie late Sergeant Percy Kent Irvino (Canterbury Battalion, killed) was twenty-four years of age, and a native of Lyttelton, where ho resided with his inotlier at Selwyn terrace. He was the fifth *son of tho late Mr W. J. Irvine, and was a grand-nephew of the late Major-Gene-ral Sir Henry Kent, late of the 77th Regiment, and also of the late Captains Henry and William Kent, R.N., and of the late Captain James Grant. He was a keen Territorial, and held .the rank of corporal in No. 4 Com puny N.Z. Garrison .\rtillcry. Shortly after the outbreak of war he enlisted with the Expeditionary Force as a private in the Ist Canterbury Regiment, being since promoted to the rank of sergeant. So far as is known, Sergeant Irvine was the first Lyttelton ooy to be killed at the Dardanelles, although others have been wounded.
