The question of Captain Jt. J. S. .Seddon - not Laving gone to tit. front having been raised in a Wellington paper. Captain Seddon, who is at present in Oisbo—ie, feels that his side of the matter should be made public. He sent a letter to the commandant in August of last year as under:—

"Sir, —I feel it my duty, firstly as a. New Zealander. and secondly as* ono whom this country trained for military defence, to offer my services in the Expeditionary Forces now being enrolled, if a suitable position can ho offered mc. If you think a personal interview is desirable I ghall be glad to wait on you at any time and place.—Yours obediently, It. J. S. Seddon."

The reply he received was as follows :—

"Department of Defence, Wellington. 7th August, 191-1. Dear Sir.—l am directed hy the General Officer Commanding to thank you vei-y much for your letter of to-dfly'.s date, and to inform you that your name has been registered, and will liavo every corisideration when the appointments are made.—-Yours faitlifullv, Tqhu Rhodes, A.D.C." .Since this date. Captain Seddon •.tates, he has heard nothing further on this matter, either by letter or communication of any sort. Many neople have asked why his services have not hoon accepted, and he has not been able to reply beyond the fact that ho volunteered at the outbreak of tho -war. and is still ready to again go forward at. any moment to serve his King and country.
