EMBEZZLEMENT CHARGES.
BARCLAY HECTOR PLEADS
GUILTY

WELLINGTON, May 13.
At the Magistrate's Court to-dayj when Barclay Hector, late Registrar of the University of New Zealand, ap»* peared on a charge of embezzling £1027 18s lOd belonging to the Senate; Air Macassey, for the prosecution, asked that the charge be withdrawn, - and threo others substituted. ■ This was allowed, and accused waa charged (1) that he did fraudulently convert the sum of £37 12s 2d on April 13th, 1915. to hie own use; (2) that having, received from the Senate of the Uni-' versity of New Zealand the emn of £650 on terms requiring him to account" for samo to J. W. Joynt, did fraudulcntlv omit to pay same, thereby com*' mitting theft; (3) on March 13tL 1914, having received the cum of £150 oa terms requiring him to pay same to J. W. Joynt in London, did fraudn-. lently omit to do bo. Accused pleaded gfiilty, and wae committed to the Supreme Court fot , Sentence, bail being allowed in £250. .
