ALLIES CLOSING ON THE TURKS

ATHENS, May 13
There is <rreat depression at Constantinople. The number of killed in the recent battles exceeds the number in the severest actions of tho Balkan war. Popular alarm is intensified by the news that a British submarine entered the Sea of Marmora.
Envcr Pasha and Liman Pasha are credited with ordering the troops not to take prisoners, and proposing to mount batteries in tho European quarter in order to draw the fire of the Fleet if tho Allies force the Dardanelles.
The Germans have decided, if the worst comes,' to take ' the Goeben, tho Breslau, and the Hamidieh, eight detroyers, and the best of the merchantmen to a neutral port by running the gauntlet of the. Russians on a dark night, when the north wind will prevent the Russian flotilla from' nearing the minefields.
The "Daily Telegraph's" Mitykne correspondent say s the Turks oh Friday were fighting desperately to prevent thomselvcs being pushed _ into the sea between Maidos and Galh'poli. The Allies from Hedoul Bahr, Gaba Tepe, (and the Gulf of Saros are converging lon the enemy.
