Eight horses faced the bwrier for tho Cup, , Balboa being' favourite, with Chortle and Multiply (coupled) eecond in public favour. Fiom a fair start, Indigo jumped out, followed by Bon Bevo, the field being well up. Passing the stand, Bon, Eeve, ivho wae on the raile, led from Indigo, with Balboa third and Multiply lost. Thle position was maintained along the back, where the field closed np, Sauci.improving hie position. Mummer also moving up. • Turning into the straight, Indigo led from Bon Rove, and paeeing the stand Chortle commenced c great run, coining through from the bunch at a* pace which placed her two lengths ahead at the judge's ,box, two lengths separating Balboa and Mulirtjply, the Test of the field in closo ordeir. The winner received an ovation on returning to the birdcage. Time, 2min 32 2-sth ccc.
