INVALIDED SOLDIERS.

ADEQUATE ACCOMMODATION IN NEW ZEALAND. (press association telegram.) DUNEDIN, April 30, The Hon. It. Heaton JXhodes, Minister of Public Health, states that there will be no difficulty in the matter of providing adequate accommodation for any convalescent troopers who may return from the front in the near future. The Government has, Mr Rhodes says, received several offers of commodious private residences which can be utilised as convalescent homes for invalided soldiers, and has already accepted the generous offer of Mr lzard, whose property at Upper Hutt is particularly suited for the purpose. This residence will provide comfortable accommodation for twenty patients, and further accommodation can easily be provided in the form of hospital tents on the spacious lawn if necessary. It was thought by the Departmental officers, Mr Rhodes told a reporter to-day, that an elastic system of hospital accommodation throughout the Dominion would . enable the various administrative Boards to meet any special call upon their institutions. Even if these institutions and the new military hospital • at Trentham were overtaxed, a contingency that appeared to be remote, it would not be difficult to provide additional accommodation in ample time'for t-be reception of convalescent troonors. It was obvious, too. that fhose soldiers who were not in need of special treatment in the hospitals, would prefer to go to their own homes. The possible need for hospital accommodation for invalided troopers ■was realised by all the administrative authorities, and the public might feel confident that if the n«>d arose, completely adequate. attention would be given to convalescent wounded soldiers.
