LINWOOD.
Mr W. H. Denton presided over, an attendance of over 140. The annual report stated that danug the past year a new infant school was opened, thus obviating the necessity for the large marquee. The number of pupils on the roll at the- start of the year totalled 558, and the average attendance was 520. The roll at present comprised 010. and the average to date was 565. Since February last 104 new scholars had been admitted. The report from Messrs Brock and Mayne," insneetoi-s. was most satisfactory, and 'mentioned the good work done by the headmaster and his staff. The "balance-sheet showed a credjt balance on Xo. 1 account of £43 15s Bd, and on No. 2 account of £10. There were liabilities amounting to £42 8s sd. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Trie election of the committee resulted as follows:— Messrs H. F. Herbert. G. B. Gundry. R. Carter, G. Phillips. W. Denton, W. Young. R. Ellis. W. J. Jenkins, and D. Coulter. There were 19 nominations. It was resolved: "That this meeting of householders in the Linwood district hereby protests against the inadequate amount'of the cavitation grant received from the Education Board, and that a letter of protest be sent to the Minister of Education without delay." Mr W. H. Dentou was elected as chairman of the incoming committee.
