KAIKOURA • RELIABILITY TRIAL.
Tho Pioneer Motor _ Club's motor-cycle re liability trial to Kaikoura and back conclud cd yesterday afternoon, in glorious weather The competitors, who started from Kaikoun at 8 a.m., all said they had had a splendic time, and the only complaint made was tha' the trial was", if anything, too easy. Th< *coostal route WA3~ followed on "the way bade . and but - for some shinglo patches and th< river-beds the roads were good. In starting off, G. B. Brown (4 Triumpi and side car), H. W. Fish (5-6 Clyno ace fide car), and F. Haworth (4 Triumph and side car) all failed »to start within the regulation period and lost marks. ■ C. F. Bennett (3J Budge and side car), whoso competition number was 13, hud bad luck with tyre and magneto troubles, and did not rea-ch home until .5.55 • p.m. J, Tozer also had troublo with the magneto, and pulled out, and with O. C. Moilatt (6 A.J.S. and sido car) made up tlie three nien who did not officially finish, although all got ..home. Up to Cheviot all the men except.those mentioned had non-stops on the homo run; -and it is unofficially stated that this good record wivs continued until Christchurch was reached. There was a control at Cheviot, where tanks were filled for the petrol consumption test, whifch took place between there and Joyce's garago in Armagh street, the finishing point. . . .
