An Auckland telegram eta'tes that Tinopai was scratched for the A.R.C. Easter Handicap at one o'clock yesterday afternoon. The Gore Racing Club's Snininer Meeting commences to-day. Among the Canterbury horses engaged are Moddite, Meltchikoff, Ladrone. Golden King, and Cortes. The Neteon Jockey Club's Annual Race HeetLog commences to-<iay. There are good fields for most of' the races, and there should be some very interesting sport. Battle Eve is looking a picture. He and Adjutant, who is also looking well; wore worked together yesterday morning. They ran along side by side, under a strong pull. It was a very nice bit of work. Autumnus was not asked to do his best while running about seven furlongs on the sand at Riccarton yesterday morning. He had the assistance of "Merry Trick over the last part of his task. Daylight Bill, Athenic, and Andrea were worked in company yesterday. After jogging once round they ran the last six furlongs of a second round at a good three-quarter pace. Daylight Bill was inclined to be on his toes after racing on Saturday, but Athenic, who also raced at Motiikarara, was as unconcerned as ever. At the Melbourne yearling sales on March Ist, Mr Sol Green, of the Shipley Stud, sold twenty by Comedy King and two by Positano for 9505 guineas, an average price of just over 432 guineas.
