THE LATEST APPEAL.
MONTHLY CONTRIBUTIONS
PUOMISED.
The committee of the Poor of Great Britain, Ireland, and Belgium Fund (Incorporated), has issued the following i — In view of the heartrending statement by the Belgian Commission, and the urgent appeal for starving Belgium, published in today's newspapers (February 23rd), the community is called upon to make some more-eustained and regular response than by the spasmodic efforts of the past, towards relief.
To that end, we, whose names are appended below, agree to contribute weekly (or monthly) the sums set opposite our names, pending any State aid which may subsequently bo provided uy taxation, and we appeal to all those who are actuated by feelings of humanity, and not deaf to the call of sufferings, to assist by regular donations. Many individuals and groups, factory .employees, and others, have already promptly and generously helped by such means since the very start of the war. There are many others in the community, as well, or better, able to help, who have as yet made no response to the call. To such as these we make a special appeal for such voluntary help as they can ghe, though it involve some personal sacrifice. Others willing to assist in this direction are requested to send their names to the hon. treasurer (Mr F. H. Pyne), (Messrs Jfyne and Co.), or to Mr C. M. Parker, secretary (Art Gallery).
