GRAND THEATRE.
An excellent programme was screened at tho Grand Theatre .yesterday, and attracted very large audiences. The principal picture was a domestic drama entitled "The Stepmother," in which there was some very fine staging and clear photography. The'acting, too, was very good, and certainly aroused the sympathy of the audience. There is an interesting plot showing how two women love the same man. He marries the girl of his choice, and some years after has a family round him to all of whom he i.s very much attached. The wife, however, diets, and before her death expresses a wish, for the children's sake, he should marry her friend, the disappointed girl of former years, who has remained single. They marry, but the husband's affections are all wrapped up in his children. The stepmother frets, but one of the children falling very ill is nursed back to health by great sacrifice. The husband realises what he owes to the new mother and everything ends happily. "Forgetting" is also a drama of tho pathetic domestic type, and introduces come fine acting by" Miss Ethel Grandin. The play is also well staged. The "Warwick Chronicle" contains same interesting news connected with the war, including tho Hard-as-Nails Corps, or the Sportsmen's Battalion, the Duke of Connaught inspecting the Canadian troops, and the first warship to pass through the Panama Canal. Another, good picture was "The American Soldier," showing the different phases of tho life of a soldier of the United States. Two laughable comedies, "Spending it Quick." and "That Awful Maid." complete the programme, which will be shown again at all sessions to-day and to-night.
