GERMAN ATTACKS FAIL.
MORE POSITIONS CAPTURED
PARIS, January 10
An official statement says
''Notwithstanding numerous attacks, the enemy was unable to recapture the trenches which lie had lost in tho Soissons region. The enomv n«ain bombarded Soissons.
"Our artillery had a great effect on the German trenches from Rheims to the Argonne. dispersing parties of marksmen. "We repelled a counter-attack west of Perthes, progressed west of Beaueejour, and seized a redoubt north of Beausejour. "The enemy bombarded the Four de Paris region. Wβ rallied, destroying a blockhouse and repulsing attacks m the Apremont forest, also in the Thann region." Tho Hiq;h Commissioner reports: — LONDON, January ID (7.20 p.m.) Paris reports tbnt in tho Aisno region near Soissons the enemy, notwithstanding numerous attacks, was unable to retake the trenches he had lost. In the Champagne district and from Rheims to the Arftonnw, the French artillery fired with great effect on the German trenches, dispersing parties of marksmen. Positions were captured at Perthes, and an organised German counter-attack was repelled. On the outskirts of Bfeausejour ground was pained on the west, and a redoubt seized on the north. LONDON, January HParis reports that iv the Champagne district German counterattacks north of Perthes and north of Beausejour were repulsed. In the Argonno two small German attacks on Fontaine Madame «md Saint Hubert failed. There was a lively fusilade west of Boursuilles and on the Meurissons stream. The lemainder of the front was Quiet. (Received January 11th, 10.30 p.m.) An official statement says that German counter-attacks north of Perthes and north of Beausejour, were repulsed. Tho rest of the front was quiet, except for a few small abortive attacks on the Argoune.
