WOOL REPORT.
The New Zealand Farmers' Co-ooerative Association of Canterbury, Ltd., report on the third sale of tho r>resen? series as followR:— Owing to the fine weather experienced since the December ealc there were good cata'.ojruos totalling 25,101 balee, ours consisting of 5405 bales. < There wore more buyers than at cither of the previous eales thk year, the majority of whom were from Bradford, but the Dominion mills wero in strong force, and French firms were rei>res3nicd by two bnycre, and there were tho usual number of local fcllmongers. Competition was decidedly keen for good bright three-quarterbreds, and prices were higher than at tha December sale, in many cases values showing one penny advance, but all lots except the very earthy wero firmer, and even the latter were ro worse. Good pieces were also in keen demand, and sold at rates equal to the previous sale, and in a few coses even higher. Hslfbrede were disappointing aa compared with the previous sale's, and may bo quoted ac fully one penny lower for the best lots, and other sorts in propnrl'on. It must, however, be remembered that prices at the earli-sr sales were exceptionally" liigh, and even yesterday' 3 prices wore good when this ie taken into consideration, together with the dislocated position of the woollen trade tlixoughout Europe, and it is surprising that bo much wool lia-3 been sold at euch excellent pricee that have ruled this season. Merino 3, except for very choice lots, were practically neglected, local scourers being tho only bidders, and th©- majority of this description was passed. The "Surrey Ilille" clip (Mr D. G. Wnght) attracted the keenest attention, and sold after veiy excited comoetition at 14Jd for a line of 37 bales of halfbrcd ewe and 12} d for 6 balo-3 Ist pieces. "We feel that, after having secured trie top price at every sale hold thie season, our method of displaying and ee-lling wool leaves nothing to be dtsired, - and complimentary remarks were made about our grouping of single and two-bale- lots. There wae rathcT moro wool paeaed at this sal© owing to the depreciation in value of The next sale will be held on Monday, February Bth, entries for which are now being receiveu. , The following lots realised top values in their respective classes: — HAI.FBRED AXD CORRIEDALE. d.
