A season of vaudeville will he augurated by the Fuller-Brennan. Proprietary at the Opera House on Saturday evening next. Tho company to be presented contains a number of artists who are "new to Christchurch... and.-will bo headed by Herman and Shirley, two American performers "who wiIL appear in their original acrobatic sketch The Mysterious Masquerader." Speaking of this, a northern contemporary says: "Seldom, if ever, has suchi a wonderful act been presented- Such boddy contortions and double dislocations combined with a fund of comedy and grotesque dancing, has rarely been witnessed." Miss Rose Lee Ivy, a Cahfornian vocalist and. will appear for the first time in Christchurch, and introduce. a number,of new „_-__-"„-_ i" "mrvArsonations. Brink-nan.
and the Steele Sisters, who have recently arrived from America, will appear in their novel singing and comedy act. Monalian and Sheehan will present a musical act, in which a number of novel instruments are used. Mr Neil Cant. a Scottish comedian, and who is well known to local playgoers, will introduce several new songs and impersonations. Th© first half of the programme will b© provided by The Magpies, a new costume comedy company, consisting of seven artists'* who, it is anticipated, will quickly establish tbeniselves a s favourites in this particular class of entertainment. This new combination will bo headed by Mr Lou Vernon, well known in connexion with his long association with the Crimson Ramblers. Tho box plan is now open at _»lilnor and Thompson's.
JULIUS KNIGHT DRAMATIC CLUB. The Julius Knight Dramatic Club will give a performance in the Opera House on Thursday next, the proceeds of which are to go to the fund for providing travelling cookers for our troops in Egypt. Two comedies (including one by Sir Arthur Pinero) will be staged, and, in addition, a Belgian sketch, incidental to the war. and specially written for tho club, will be produced. The knowledge that the purchase of a ticket will directly benefit a son, brother, or chum, should ensure the patronage of all who have friends or relatives with tho troops.
