The "Niewe Courant" emphatically denies that Cardinal Mercier and other priests were arrested or watched at Antwerp. The story arose through a mossenger who brought the information that Cardinal Mercier would not officCiato at Antwerp, adding that two sentries had been posted in the Archiepiscopal Palace.
