BY-LAW BREACHES. S. Preston, charged with riding a motor-cycle too fast orer a street crossing, was convicted and ordered to payees ta. George H. Mann, on a like charge, was fined os and coats. John McDonald, charged with leaving a vehicle unattended, was lined 10 s and costs. Charged with riding motor-cycles in Sydenham Park. Charles Hitchings and John Smith were o_ch convicted and ordered to pay costs. OBSCENE LANGUAGE. Rasmus Christian Fransden. charged with using obscene language, was fined £5 and costs, in default fourteen days' imprisonment. ALLEGED THEFT. Harvey Rowland Birch Miles, on threo charges of theft of bicycles, waa remanded till to-morrow, on the same bail a-s before. (Before Mr H. W. Bishop. S.M.) A SERIOUS CHARGE. Charles Jamas I'lutcy pleaded guilty to on December iMth, at Sumner, attempting to steal petrol valued at 2s j 6d. the property of one Nidiolls, and was convicted and ordered to como up for sentence when called upon. A further charge was preferred against him: ''That on December 2-lth. at Sumner, he did cause an event, to wit a firo. that destroyed tho motor i garage of one George. Humphries, by an act which he knew would probably cause it. being reckless whether such event happened or not. aud did hereby commit the crime- of arson." On this charge accused was remanded till Wednesday next, bail being allowed, self in £50 and" one 'surekjr of £.7).'
