DEATH OF A GREAT TRAVELLER.

The lato Archibald Ross Colqnhona %}, was a son of Dr. Archibald Colquhoon, H.E.1.C.5., the famous surgeon of "['- Edinburgh. Hβ was born in 1848 and,' 'j, was educated in Scotland and on the *;; Continent. He joined tho Indian Pnb- '-■?, lie Works Department in 1871. Hβ accompanied the Indian Governments ~\s mission to Siam and the Shan States, \ > in 1879, as secretary and second in *+i command. In later years ho explored -\f Northern Siam and Southern Chinato ~ trace the best route for connectiafi Burmah and China by railway. H* *»£ "Tho Timee" correspondent in tboFef - East in 1883-8-i, where he travelled «- r tensively. Overs dozen volumes of travel stand to his credit, besides which he had read numerous ■rj . papers before the various Royal Sode-, J ?t ties.
