Dr. Thacker, Opposition candidate for Christchurch East, will speak to-night at Hastings street Hall. Mr G. J>. Macfarlane, Government candidate for Christchurch East, addressed a meeting, in the East Christchurch school last evening, and was accorded a vote or',thanks. Mr PeveriJi •presided. Dr. Thackor, Opposition candidate for Christchurch East addressed a meeting in St. Jjuke's Schoolroom last evening, the room being comrortably filled. The chair was occupied by Mr H. J. Otley. On rising th§ candidate was greeted with applause, and his address was listened to with much attention. A number of questions were asked and answered, artd a, vote of thanks and confidence was moved by Mr Oakley, seconded by a lady elector, and carried without dissent. The meeting concluded with three cheers for Sir Joseph Ward.
