■ Several persons charged- tvith selling milk not complying witli the standard, had fines inflicted on. them by Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M., at.the Magistrate's Court yesterday. Mr S. G. Jlaymoncl,' K.C., appeared for the prosecution in each case. Thomas Bisman, for whom Mr Cassidy appeared, pleaded guilty to selling milk below the standard, but under mitigating circumstances. Defendant was fined £5 and costs. Subsequently, upon Mr Cassidy's apDlication, the fine was,reduced to 40s and costs. Robert Ellis was also charged with selling milk below the standard. Mr Flesher appeared for defendant. The Magistrate said the discrepancy*Vae a very small one. and so defendant would be only fined 40s and costs. John William Dbbby. who was charged with selling milk not complying with the standard, stated, that tho milk "was purely from the cows." Fined 40.s and costs. In reply to a. charge of selling milk not complying with tho standard, Thomas "Wilson said lip had been unaware of the fact. Mr Raymond stated that within the past year defendant had been lined .40s and costs for" a similar offence. Defendant was fined 60s and costs. William Gillespie, who admitted a charge of selling .milk not complying with the standard, was fined 40s and costs. Mr Wilding, junr., appeared for defendant. Francis Redman pleaded' not guilty to selling milk below the standard.. Mr Wn'glit represented defendant, and was granted an adjournment for a week. , ' .
