ORGAN RECITAL.
The inclemency of the weather accounted for a very poor attendance at His Majesty's last night. Dr. Bradshatv's programme, opening with tho National Anthem, introduced tjvo or»an pieces by Niels \Y. Gade, "Aloderat," in F, a dignified, -well-written movement, and the "Allegretto"' 111 G in the Danish composer's graceful, melodious stylo. It was followed by the charmingly simple "Andante" from Haydn's "Surprise" symphony. A splendid performance was given cf Wagner's great overture to the "M«„----ter-ingers," and the really helpful annotations supplied in the programme deserve special commendation. An original and clever tone-picture "On the. Coast." by Dudley Buck, and the "I. antssix. ' iii F by Best, were the most noteworthy remaining numbers. The St.. Albans .Methodist Choir, under their very able and painstaking conductor, Mr Simpson, sang tastefully the anthem* ''Across the Bar" and "Hymn of Peace," and a hymn "Fierce Raged the Tempest." Their singing of the National Anthem was drowned, by the organ.
