At present, however, thpro is a shortage of flour consequent on millers being unnble to purchase wheat. Orders for flour sent to millers at Garaaru, Timarn and Christchurch, havo been refused,-' and with five ant of tho six local mills practically closed down, tho position must soon become acute. Already some bakers aro being hard put to to get flour to enable, them to carry on, and there is only one result: if floor is . not forthcoming they must close dorm. Thomson has received a telegram from t-be Primo Minister, stating that he hos arranged for 25 ton , ? of flour to be sent- to Dunedijn next week, and a further 25 tons at 12 days delivery thereafter: that 1270 sacks of Australian wheat, are leaving: 'Sydney to-day for Dunedm, and 000 sacks for Bluff: and that the Food Commission will sit in Dunedin. probably early next week.
