It i<s nho proposed, it permiss.on ia obtained, to erect lan avenue in front of tho Cathedral. Messrs. Turnbull and Jones have olfered to illuminate the avenue at night. The funds will be devoted solely to the purchase of Christmas gifts for tho Belgiau children, and will represent tbe efforts of the local childreu'ou their behalf. The date on which it is proposed the appeal should be made has been fixed for December 21th. and with the usual crowds in the city on Christinas Eve. it is anticipated that there will be a ready response to the appeal of the children. Tho movement has already enlisted hearty support, and once permission obtained from the civic authorities the committee will immediately set to work the detaih.
