Charmlcy, oi Hawke's Bay. lie remarked that he -had judged at a mirak-r of the principal Show _ m tho North Island; and had attended a number of other promier Shows, but tho display of pigs in Christ-church this year was decidedly ihe bffit he had ever ..ecu anywhere iv New Zealand. Mr Charles Brice's Maori King and Mclrcso Fancier were first and second respectively in tho aged "boar Berkshire eias.. but the Sunnyside Mental Hospital's Tonpcr Boar 10th, beat Mr Brice's exhibit in the class for boars under twelve mouths. Mr Brico, " however, scored again with a particularly nice hoar under six months, though 3lr Frank Rowe's Windsor Boy 15th ran him very close, and was placed second. There was another cloeo run in thc breeding sow class, any age, when tho Mental Hospital's EHesmero Lass 4th beat Mr Brice's Coronation.
The claw for sows with litter was ono of high merit, and tho competition was very keen. Mr W. H. Stephen's "M.A." was first, and the Mental Hos-
•pitaUs Whitchurch Sow 3rd took tho second prize, and another good one from tho Hospital was awarded a v.h.c. - ticket. Mr Brice took a first anti second in thc class for soy under twelve- • months, and Mr J. Hadley was first with tho 3_ontal Hospital second, in the class for sows under &ix months A few good ones of tho large BJac . Devon breed .were sent forward by Mr . J Mr W. H. Stephens, and ;the Canterbury College. The Collego scored two first honours, Mr Stephens _ac tot, and Mr Hadley three eceonds; The Yorkshires - were another particularly atrong section.
