KAIAPOI
A motorist travelling over the Kaiapoi bridge on Tuesday evening at an excessive speed, nearly knocked down a woman and child when turning the corner at the Post Office, and missed a lamp-post by a few inches. Tho night was very dark, and the motor-car had no liehts.
While cycling out of the Woollen Company's premises yesterday, a girl employee collided with a horse and gig, driven by a Maori, one of the wheels of the vehicle passing over her body. Though able to resume work, the girl later suffered from. shock, and had to go home. '
At 10.30 p.m. on Tuesday, a motorcar, with two passengers, at the Kaiapoi North road level railway crossing took the turn on the lin° to the north, and was pulled up in the . cattle stop. Assistance was obtained, and after an hour's delay the motor was extricated and able to proceed. The night was very-dark, and the driver had evidently missed the turn towards Rangiora, which is threo chains from tho line. The damage,>, fortunately,- was not serious.
