COUNTY COUNCILS.
OXFORD.
Xt the last meeting of the Oxford County Council there wore - present-— Messrs H. Campbell (chairman), A. Baxter, H. T. Cooper, A. Meyers, J. McConnack, and J. Wells. The electrical engineer waited on the Council regarding the supply-of power for <Jx"ford. The Domain Board was granted permission to take water from the race by windmill or oil engine for sprinkling the bowling green and flower borders in Pearson Park. Tho surveyor reported the completion of tho Gamman's creek dam and main race. H was resolved to lay 3in iron pipes in water-tables on the Ashley Gorge cutting, and to regrade the road, subject to the approval o£ the Ashley County Council; also to give the contractor notice to break stones on Burnt Hill road within ono week, or the Council would have them broken and charge the cost to bis account. Mr F. W. Glasson was granted permission to erect, horse-ties on the Old Mill road, on the west front «* tue Commercial Hotel. For contract 40, for construction of water-races to tho west of Gamman's creek, tho tender of H. Nelson, at 2s 6d per chain, was accented. It was resolved to advertise for tenders for supply of dog-collars for 1915. As ifc was the last meeting of the present Council. Mr Cooper moved a hearty vote of thanks to the chairman for the able and impartial manner in which ho had conducted the business of the Council during the two and ahalf years of its existence. —Carried. Mr McCormacfc moved, seconded >y the chairman, a vote of thanks to the clerk for having carried out his duties to the satisfaction of the Council. — Carried. Tito chairman and the clerk returned thanks, and, the meeting closed.
