DUVAUCHELLE

• A meeting.of the Akaroa and Wainui Road Board was hold at Durauchelle on Saturday last, Messrs G. Armstrong (chairman). W. W. Williams, D. McKay, and It. A. Pottigrew being present. The Board's solicitor, Mr'Geo. Harris, advised that a. clause, authorising the Wairewa County Council to pay £30 por acre to tho Board for certain land at Puaha. had been inserted in tho Washing-up" Bill. It was decided to forward an account for the purchase money. With reference to tho apportionment of tho £6000 metal loan, tho Wairewa County Council asked to bo supplied with a' statement showing the actual expense-of-, motelling tho roads now included in the Wairewa County. Tho clork was i- struct- j ed to forward particulars. Tho ■Hu.-i. It. Heaton Rhodes fonvarded a copy of tho Public Works Estimates, whicli contain Govornment grants of £75 (£ for ■£) towards metalling tho Cough's Baj- road, and the same amount towards metalling Hickory road. Tho clerk was instructed to thank 3lr "Rhodes for his assistance in tho njatter. It was decided to put in culverts where necessary on tho new Piper's Valley road. The annual meeting of ratepayers, which was to have been held on Saturday, lapsed for want of a quorum, no ratepayers putting in on appearance.

A nicoting of the committee of the Peninsula Horso Show ami' Pastoral -Association was held on Saturday at I)uvauchelle, Mr F. W.
