At Arnbexley Inst week the numerous friends of M r\Tohn Robertson assembled at the Railway Hotel to bid him adieu and express their good wishes for his fut-tiro welfare. A little excitement was caused in Amberley yesterday morninc. when storekeepers went to "open their respective premises, and found .siena of burglars having been busy. Messrs Frew Bros." front door wns forced. :\nd the contents of Uie safe (which was left ooen) were found strewn on the floor. Fortunately no money had been left in tho safe. Messrs..!. South and Co.'s front door bore evidence of three,attempts'to force ie open, and the culprit gained admittance through :\ window at the rear, but found nothing for his pains. • Beyond disturbing the contents of one room, ho left everything untouched. Mr C. B. Mason's office was also broken into. Hero again nothins was taken.
