DOMAIN BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING
A meeting of the Christchurch Domain Board was held yesterday afternoon, Mr H. J. Beswick being iv the chair. It was reported that Mr James Ashley had been appointed the representative of the New Brighton and "Woolston Borough Councils on the Board. The chairman welcomed Mr Ashley. Permission was granted to close the tea kiosk in tho Gardens on. Christmas Day. Mr S. T. Cox wrote offering to suj>ply two penny-in-the slot weighing machines to the Board under certaiu conditions. —The letter was received. . Mr H. C. Ell, M.P., telegraphed:— "I see that a great maay men are still in need of employment, in anticipation of levies now due from local bodies, may I suggest that schemes for work in garden and parks be prepared for consideration of Board, co as to avoid delay in putting men to work. The chairman said the difficulty was to find the money; the levies woutd not be available for six months. There was plenty of work, but no money.4 Tho Mayor: I can find you tho money, and the men, too. The communication was received. It was decided to paint the fountain in the Domain : to confer with the Telegraph Department regarding the removal of stay poles in Rolleston avi#» nue, and to get the City Council's permission to erect direction boards pointing out the way to the Gardens.
