Thy following Bills were read a second time, practically without debate: —Orchard and Garden Diseases Amendment, Railways Authorisation, Port Ahnriri (West* Shore), Road and Railway, Mental Defectives Act Amendment, Legislature Amendment No. 2, and New Zealand University. SHOPS AND OFFICES BILL. The PRIME MINISTER moved tho second readiug of the -Shops and Offices Bill, bringing businesses selling tobacco and cigarettes into lino so far as closing hours wero concerned. Mr HINDMARSH put in a plea for Ibo inclusion of workers in private hotels amongst thoso who benofited by tho main Act. Tho second roading was agreed to. MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS BILL*. The "Medical Practitioners Act Amendment Hill was read a second time. COOK ISLANDS BILL Tho PRIME MINISTER suggested that the Cook Islands Bill Bhould bo put through and brought down for roronsidpration next year. Sir JOSEPH WARD said ho regretted that ho could not agreo to pass a Bill of 075 clauses on trust. Eventually tho Bill was postponed. PUBLIC DOMAINS BILL. The Public Domains and Reserves Act Amendment Bill was read a second time. . . Tho "Bills that had been -put through their second readings earlier in tho sitting wero, read a" third time and passed.
